The story goes that, in 1867, good ol’ Elisha Adam Euless was mighty generous. On his 170 acres of land he had a cotton gin and a community center, both of which helped him become one of the most successful farmers, businessmen and all-around stand-out guys in town. The city began to grow around his land, so people decided to call this community Euless.

Nearly 150 years later, Euless—the center prong of the HEB city triad: Hurst, Euless, Bedford, and part of the DFW airport—has grown to approximately 50,000 residents who remain committed to a good life and good education.

Here, you can pass some time playing hockey or taking figure skating lessons at the Dr. Pepper Star Center Ice Arena, learn area history at the restored Fuller House (the first brick house in the city, now a museum) or Himes Log Cabin, or take a quick drive to Dallas or Fort Worth, each located about 20 minutes away.

Barnett Shale...Cha Ching! But Now What

Barnett Shale may be the largest onshore natural gas field in the United States. While proven to have 2.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, it could contain as much as 30 trillion cubic feet! Not until the technological advancement of horizontal drilling though was Barnett Shale able to become a major producer of natural gas. Horizontal drilling allows companies to drill horizontally – this is key because DFW basically sits on top of Barnett Shale. Now drillers can retrieve natural gas that lies beneath neighborhoods. Cha ching!
