…southern suburban with pop culture history

Though it's grown exponentially since the opening of DFW Airport, Lewisville still retains the same subdued, small-town feel from before the dam was finished in the 1950s.

You wouldn't guess from driving on quaint streets past world-class golf courses that this town was the hip little home of the Texas International Pop Festival in 1969, hosting such big-time names as Janis Joplin, B.B. King and Led Zeppelin, who played to over 250,000 screaming-their-hearts-out fans.

Entertainment options have changed a little bit since then, but Old Town Lewisville still remains a vibrant downtown with special events, first-rate shopping and eclectic dining. And, for those with a high idle, the Texas Motor Speedway is here, too. Yet, with all of this, Pier 121 Marina remains the town's main draw, where boaters go to head out onto the awesome Lewisville Lake.

It may not be a Stairway to Heaven, but the Thrill is definitely not Gone.
