…down-home and friendly

With so many Dallas-Fort Worth area towns experiencing exponential growth, it’s kinda refreshing to find one whose lands have yet to be graced by housing developments with marble entrance gates and big SUV’s.

Located about 40 miles northeast of Dallas (which may explain it), you’ll find Princeton, a sleepy, rural town, nestled snugly between the upper prongs of Lavon Lake. A sampling of the local point of view: the Princeton Chamber of Commerce website refers to their town as “full of small town flavor and good people who invite you to visit…” Refreshing enough for ya?

It may not be the most happenin’ ’hood, but what Princeton lacks in big-city style it more than makes up for in folksiness. There’s the annual Princeton Spring Onion Festival (cotton, onions and cantaloupe put the town on the map) with onion cook-offs, a community BBQ, a children’s beauty pageant and car show.

If you don’t mind a bit of a drive to Dallas, Princeton offers a legit escape where you can spread out, chill out and hang out. Remember, the occasional cultural and urban accoutrements are still less than an hour away!
