West Fort Worth

Send to a friend

…middle-class suburb, roaring since the 1920s

The neighborhoods in West Fort Worth—Arlington Heights, Ridglea and Ridglea Hills, Ridgmar and River Crest—are closely connected to Fort Worth history. The evidence is all over: in the residents’ pride in maintaining the area’s traditional beauty, in Arlington Heights’ brick streets and museums and in River Crest’s 1920s-built mansions, once owned by city forefathers Amon Carter, Sr., and Wesley C. Stripling.

Camp Bowie Boulevard, though slightly painful to drive on (brick is really bumpy), will provide weekend after weekend of distractions. From big-box necessities to fun gift shops and boutiques, this is where locals go for shopping, fun and entertainment. Not far from here, you’ll find the Cultural District’s several museums and the gorgeous Botanical Gardens.
