Federal Heights

Send to a friend

…from these heights, life is lookin' good

Once upon a time, Federal Boulevard was just a dirt road. Now it's one of the most diverse streets in Denver, not to mention the namesake of Federal Heights. And in case you're wondering, Federal got its 'Heights' by overlooking the northern part of Denver. This city of 12,000 has all your basic amenities, including its own parade, and a view.

If you have a hankering for farm fresh and local produce you have a lot of options. But if you want farm fresh and local produce seven days a week, all day long, you have to go to Federal Heights' Farmers Market located at the Hilltop Gardens. Think roasted chilies, corn, peaches, tomatoes, cherries and fresh baked bread. Yup, seven days a week.

And if green is your thing, consider this: The city sponsors an annual Tree and Shrub Give-Away, where residents receive drought-resistant plants that'll thrive in Colorado's tough environment. There's something to be said about a city that helps you beautify your yard (or balcony) and keeps the earth producing that ever essential Oxygen.

Keep your eyes peeled on the land east of Federal on 104th Avenue. Development is underway for a town center that will include retail, restaurants and Federal Heights apartments for rent in an outdoor setting. And it appears that Federal Heights is becoming a green machine. The town center's infrastructure will utilize a Grasspave concept where a portion of the parking lot will be grass to help control water quality.

Oh and just one more thing, Water World, one of the nation's best water parks, is located here...so grab your suit and shades and hit the wave pool.
