If you’re looking for big city living this probably isn’t it. But if you’re looking for easy living with easy access to the Denver Metro, you might look up Henderson.

Named for the loud-mouth politician that got the boot from Kansas, John D. “Colonel Jack” Henderson (packed crackers and whiskey), this quiet little town still holds true to its old western roots. Henderson is filled with lots of open space (horses need homes too) and historical must-sees such as the Henderson 1887 House and Hosmer General Blacksmithing.

It's not all history in Henderson (the gun-slinging ended years ago); today residents spend their free time at the nearby Adams County Regional Park and reside in a variety of Henderson apartments. Play a few holes of golf, relax by the lake or cast some lines for a day of fishing. Who says a small town's gotta be small?
