They came to search for silver and gold, but they founded a growing community instead. Little did the small group of farmers know that, in 1859, their little town with good soil and plentiful water would grow up to be a thriving, tree-lined community named Wheat Ridge.

A proud nine square miles, Wheat Ridge is 30,000 residents strong. Situated between downtown Denver and the mountains near I-70, this neighborhood is a convenient place to live, work and shop.

About half of the area's 3,200 retail and small businesses are locally owned and operated. Whatever the "urge-of-the-moment," scope out the many cafes, bars, restaurants, ice cream parlors and pizza joints. And, like most of the surrounding area there's no short supply of open space, with 20 parks and riding trails, near apartments for rent and other housing options. Everything's here. Nice.
