…Hollywood’s quainter, quieter neighbor

Just outside Central Hollywood, Hancock Park offers an escape from the Hollywood buzz. Though it’s mostly residential, with old-money mansions and estates, some apartments and a good number of du-, tri- and fourplexes, Hancock Park also provides plenty of Saturday-afternoon retail, restaurants and galleries on Larchmont Boulevard.

This area has a few specific characteristics that set it apart from the rest of LA. For example, houses are set far back from the street, fences are discouraged and most telephone and power lines are buried underground. These factors, along with the area’s abundance of classic architecture, have resulted in a high demand for housing here from the beginning. So it’s not surprising that prices can be steep, and the average household income of its residents consistently ranks among the highest in the U.S.
