…a convenient “boomburb”

Only 35 miles from LA, Santa Clarita is the fourth largest city in Los Angeles County. In 1987, it was incorporated to include the communities of Newhall Ranch, Saugus, Stevenson Ranch, Canyon Country, Valencia, Newhall and some areas of Castaic.

There are a number of good reasons people have been coming here in droves. First, it’s been a longtime backdrop for film, TV shows and commercials. Second, it’s home to one of the best places to spend a Saturday afternoon: Six Flags. And third, the shopping, schools and services in this revitalized conglomeration of bedroom communities are top-notch.

So it’s not too surprising that one city official reportedly called Santa Clarita a “baby factory;” however, we prefer to be more diplomatic. “Boomburb?” Maybe. Hot city? Sure. Great place to live? Definitely.

Santa Clarita is convenient to Interstate 5, and its winding paseos (pedestrian bridges) are conducive to walking and biking. Metrolink offers commuter passenger train service to LA.

Though single-family housing prices have risen to $600K+, it’s fairly easy to find great rental apartments and condos, all within close proximity to the best indoor and outdoor recreation the city has to offer.
