With all the activities available in Santa Monica, it’s a wonder residents find time to enjoy the beach. Residents in the know can be found taking classes at Yoga Works, eating the best burger in town at Father’s Office, or socializing with friends at Library Alehouse on Main Street. From Montana Avenue’s upscale boutiques and popular restaurants to Third Street Promenade’s open-air mall and parade of street performers, to the area’s hip nightlife strip on Main Street, it could be days before they’d find time to put even one toe into the Pacific. And from all those cool places, you can walk home to most Santa Monica apartments.

Like any other LA beach community, Santa Monica does plenty to honor its seaside location. Active Santa Monica residents enjoy long walks and bike-rides along the scenic Ocean Avenue path. This path has some of the best views of the beach, the winding Pacific coastline and the Santa Monica Pier.

Because Santa Monica is such a desirable place to live, housing prices can be astronomical (Kate Hudson has a house here.) But not to worry, modest options are also available (Remember the walk-ups in Three's Company?).
