...Hollywood’s backdoor

Jared Sidney Torrance came along in the early 1900s and saw fit to develop a mixed industrial-residential city and coined it, by golly, Torrance. The city is located in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County. Torrance boasts itself as the sixth largest city in Los Angeles County.

But that's not all. Torrance is home to Del Amo Fashion Center, which is one of the largest malls in America coming in at 2.5 million square feet. It's also home to the U.S. headquarters of two of the three largest Japanese auto-makers Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., and American Honda Motor Company, making Torrance one of the highest concentrated areas of Japanese folk in the U.S.

Although Torrance is not your typical glitz and glam set-up as other LA County hoods, a number of high profile celebs reside in the area such as Quentin Tarantino, Michelle Kwan and Chuck Norris. Other claims to Hollywood fame are movies shot in Torrance such as American Beauty, Jackie Brown, Bad Santa and hit television shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Beverly Hills 90210.

Torrance residents take advantage of perks on the nature scene at Wilson Park, a 44-acre recreational area with great athletic facilities and Madrona Marsh, one of the country's few urban wetlands.

Taking pride in its community and people, Torrance offers a balanced lifestyle with a hometown feel while staying true to its California counterparts.
