…small town living, big city options

An easy 12 miles southeast of LA (and a 30-minute drive to Anaheim and its touristy pleasures), you’ll find Whittier, a traditional SoCal suburb with a down-home persona.

Home to Whittier College and the Southern California University of Health Sciences, this leafy ‘hood expanded after WWII and still offers reasonable rents, a good commute (lots of municipal transportation options, plus easy access to the 605, 60 and other freeways) and tons of diverse retail and dining ops.

Uptown Whittier is a historic shopping district with funky vintage clothing boutiques, upscale antique shops, coffee houses and cafés. Town Center offers big box retailers like Target and J.C. Penney and the La Habra Marketplace, an outdoor shopping center. For those who prefer their shopping a bit more traditional, The Quad at Whittier and Puente Hills Mall more than adequately fit the bill.

Recreational choices are plentiful—drive into LA for a concert or show, spend the day at the beach, hike or bike in the San Gabriel Mountains and be back home by evening.

Many college alumni choose to stay, open businesses and raise their families in Whittier, which speaks volumes about the quality of life and influx of fresh culture you’ll find here.
