Yes, Newport Beach is all that and more (even sans Ryan and Seth). While most of its neighbors do their best to keep a sun-drenched mellow vibe, NB has taken its sudden mass-popularity (thanks to TV shows like Arrested Development, The OC, and, ahem, Newport Harbor: The Real OC) and awarded itself the unofficial title of “Jewel of the West Coast.”

Residents here prefer houses with more glass than walls, Escalades rimmed in precious metals, hair in shades of blond, and drinks poured at prices that would make a New Yorker weak.

It’s not all fun in the sun here – with easy access to the 405, Irvine and John Wayne Airport, there’s never an excuse to be late to work.

With little local industry besides tourism and the summer influx of beach house renters, Newport Beach has fashioned itself into a playground for yachts, golf fanatics, neck-tie surfers, teenagers with BMW’s and apparently, it’s a formula that works.
