…one of San Diego’s oldest neighborhoods

A tight-knit Mexican-American community since the turn of the century, Barrio Logan continues to reinvent itself as the social, political and cultural hub of San Diego's Latino population.

Similar to Harlem in NYC, Barrio Logan has been the home of many famous artists and activists, some of whom have transformed the formerly bleak concrete space under the pylons of the I-5 freeway on-ramps (known as Chicano People’s Park) into beautiful, world-renowned murals. This colorful tribute to Hispanic heritage is now a San Diego Historical Site.

Plans for renewal continue with the building of mixed-use projects, affordable housing and a retail center.
