…surfer’s delight

If your ideal afternoon consists of walking along the beach in a swimsuit-khaki shorts combo, if you don’t mind getting your toes nipped by speeding skaters or surfers who carry their boards like an extra limb, Ventura’s beachside location and all-is-cool attitude will fit you like a wetsuit.

Officially called “San Buenaventura,” this city has a diverse population of more than 100,000, and they’re all hangin’ out downtown. Well, not really, but the bustling center of the city is definitely the place to be—with shops and restaurants from low-end to high and everything in between. Major draws to the city also include Ventura Harbor for fishing and seafood restaurants, Channel Islands National Park and the Majestic Ventura Theater, which has hosted bands from The Doors to Modest Mouse.

Residents love the laid back vibe and with a variety of housing options to choose from, including some Ventura apartments listed here, its easy to make yourself at home. So dress down, kick back and chill out—the surf’s up.
